Posted November 23, 2021

Britta Kallin, associate professor of German in the School of Modern Languages, presented her paper “Materiality, Corporeality, and Mediality: Communicative Strategies in Select Works by Elfriede Jelinek” at the Elfriede Jelinek: Theater.Music.Film - Materiality & Mediality interdisciplinary online symposium on Nov. 20.

The symposium was hosted by the Intercollegiate Research Network Elfriede Jelinek and brought scholars from the United States and Europe together to discuss the works of Elfriede Jelinek, 2004 Nobel Laureate for Literature, and their correlation to performance, music, and film. It coincided with the Austrian author’s 75th birthday and is the first comprehensive conference on Elfriede Jelinek in the United States.

The Intercollegiate Research Network Elfriede Jelinek is a partnership between the University of Vienna, the Private University for Musik and the Arts of the City of Vienna, and the Max Kade Center for German Studies at Lafayette College.
