Posted January 6, 2022

Alan Porter, professor emeritus in the School of Public Policy, co-authored the article “An Approach to Construct Technological Convergence Networks Across Different IPC Hierarchies and Identify Key Technology Fields.” The article was published in IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management.

In it, Porter and his co-authors discuss the shortcomings of the current technological convergence networks (TCNs), or methods of identifying the advancement of technology convergence. They follow up by proposing that TCNs be constructed across different International Patent Classification hierarchies as opposed to just one.
