The French Speaker Series at Georgia Tech is an event that brings renowned French writers, scholars, and artists to the campus to engage with students, faculty, and the broader community. It provides a unique opportunity to gain insights directly from the author or the artist’s perspective. The French Speaker Series is a consistent and engaging event that promotes the exploration and appreciation of French literature and culture within the university community. The series also aims to provide students, faculty, and the broader Atlanta community with opportunities for cultural enrichment and intellectual engagement while promoting cross-cultural understanding with a global perspective.

Sarr was born in Dakar in 1990. He studied literature and philosophy at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Sarr is the author of four novels as well as a number of award-winning short stories. In 2021, Sarr became the first Senegalese author to win France's prestigious 2021 Prix Goncourt for his book, La Plus secrète mémoire des hommes (The Most Secret Memory of Men). Copies of the author’s new book The Most Secret Memory of Men, translated by Lara Vergnaud and published by Other Press will be available for purchase at the event while supplies last. Copies of De purs hommes, in French, will also be available for purchase at the event while supplies last.

The conversation will be in French and English. This is a free event.

Parking

The closest parking is the Visitor Area 1 Lot on North Avenue. The Area 1 Visitor Lot is $2.00 per hour with a $20 maximum ($20 for lost ticket). The Library is about a 5 to 10-minute walk from the lot. For more information, please visit the GT Visitor Parking page.
