Chiara Repetti-Ludlow

Hi, I’m Chiara Repetti-Ludlow and I’m an Assistant Professor of Linguistics in Georgia Tech’s School of Modern Languages. My research focuses on the phonetics and phonology of speech — how speech sounds are produced, perceived, and organized — from the acoustic cues that shape how listeners recognize words to the ways pronunciation varies across languages and populations. I draw on acoustic, computational, behavioral, and neuroscientific methods to explore how the human mind makes sense of spoken language.

Prior to Georgia Tech, I was a Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow in Carnegie Mellon University’s Neuroscience Institute, where I worked with Prof. Barbara Shinn-Cunningham and Prof. Christina Bjorndahl. I received my Ph.D. in Linguistics at NYU, where I was advised by Prof. Lisa Davidson, and I received my B.A. in Classics and Cognitive, Linguistic, & Psychological Sciences at Brown University.
