Fealing and Hicks Participate in International Conferences

Kaye Husbands Fealing, chair and professor in the Ivan Allen College School of Public Policy, participated in two international conferences and one workshop during the month of September. 

On September 7, 2016, Fealing gave a presentation entitled “Big Data in the Service of Policy: The U.S. Picture” at the Royal Statistical Society’s annual conference in Manchester, England.

On September 21, 2016, Fealing gave a presentation entitled “Improving Indicators to Inform Policy” at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Blue Sky Forum on Science and Innovation Indicators in Ghent, Belgium. Diana Hicks, a professor in the School of Public Policy, was also a presenter at the conference, giving a talk based on her Leiden Manifesto article.

On September 29, 2016, Fealing served as the chair for a panel entitled “Data Veracity and Model Validity as Ethical Challenges” at the “Collaboration as Big Data Ethics” workshop, an event funded by the National Science Foundation that was held at the Virginia Tech Research Center in Arlington, Virginia.
