Public Policy, CACP, Faculty Discuss STEM, Disabilities, and Facilitating Science at National Academies Workshop

Faculty from the School of Public Policy and the Center for Advanced Communications Policy (CACP) were panelists at a Washington, D.C., workshop sponsored by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine on Jan. 8 - 9, 2018.

Kaye Husbands Fealing, professor and chair of the School of Public Policy, and Paul Manuel Aviles Baker, senior director of research and strategic innovation at the Center for Advanced Communication Policy, discussed increasing employment opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields for people with disabilities in their panel at the Workshop on Government Decision-Making to Allocate Scientific Resources.

Kimberly Isett and Diana Hicks, professors in the School of Public Policy, were panelists in a separate discussion, “Facilitating the Use of Evidence in Science Policy Making.”

The workshop was held to review findings and recommendations from National Science Foundation-funded projects addressing issues related to how government decision-makers allocate resources for scientific research.
