Ivan Allen College Supports Inspirational Figures Exhibit

Posted April 30, 2018

The Inspirational Figures exhibit, produced by the Creative/Career Origination Lab (the CoLab) and sponsored by the Georgia Tech Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, is a six-poster per-series exhibition concept that came from the notion of students helping students — supporting each other in seeing positive outcomes and finding inspiration in the midst of struggle with mental illness or other life hardships. The posters are on display near the chairs office on the third floor of the Skiles building within the School of Literature, Media, and Communication (LMC), but travel for display at various events such as the Ivan Allen College's Distinguished Alumni Awards on March 28, 2018, and the Student Listening Session Dinner held April 25.

The Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts is an active participant in efforts to enhance the quality of life and learning on campus in the wake of the troubling events that affected campus last fall — including the death of Scout Schultz and the violence at the vigil in Scout’s honor.

Inspirational Figures is among the numerous ideas and actions, both short- and long-term, that are underway as a result of a series of Student-led Listening Sessions in the College. The College supports the effort by making resources and guidance available in the LMC Co-Lab. The hope is that opportunities such as this exhibit increase the College’s capacity to establish and sustain an Ivan Allen College experience that is inclusive, welcoming, and productive for all.

The School of Literature, Media, and Communication is part of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts.
