Ivan Allen College Supports Inspirational Figures Exhibit

The Inspirational Figures exhibit, produced by the Creative/Career Origination Lab (the CoLab) and sponsored by the Georgia Tech Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, is a six-poster per-series exhibition concept that came from the notion of students helping students — supporting each other in seeing positive outcomes and finding inspiration in the midst of struggle with mental illness or other life hardships.

Ross to Receive National Advising Award; Suarez and Ross Honored at the 2018 Georgia Tech Faculty and Staff Honors Luncheon

Leslie Ross, academic program manager in the Georgia Tech School of Public Policy, and Maria Lourdes Suarez, administrative professional in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, were both honored with awards at the 2018 Faculty and Staff Honors Luncheon on Wednesday, April 11. Ross has also been selected as a 2018 Outstanding Advising Award Winner in the Primary Advising category by the Global Community for Academic Advising (NACADA).

Dhongde Presents Research at the United Nations

Shatakshee Dhongde, associate professor in the Georgia Tech School of Economics, was invited to present her research on “Multidimensional Deprivation in the U.S.” at the United Nations on March 22, 2018. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) plans to monitor multidimensional poverty in developed countries and invited Dhongde to talk about her research on poverty in the U.S.

School of Public Policy Announces Inaugural Advisory Board Members

The Georgia Tech School of Public Policy established an Advisory Board in fall 2017 and announces its inaugural board members: Michael Cassidy, president and CEO of Georgia Research Alliance; Fatimot Ladipo, regional director for External Affairs for AT&T; Amanda Shailendra, economic development and site selection specialist for Google Fiber; and Susan Van Aacken, public health advisor for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Burnett Recognized with 2018 Regents’ Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award

Rebecca Burnett, a professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication (LMC) at Georgia Institute of Technology, received the 2018 Regents’ Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award. Burnett was recognized for her ability to embed the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), a growing movement in post-secondary education that uses discovery, reflection, and evidence-based methods to research effective teaching and student learning, into her own teaching, research, and professional service.
