International Patients Increasingly Seek In Vitro Fertilization Treatment in U.S.

A new study from the Georgia Institute of Technology and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention finds that the use of assisted reproductive technology (ART) in the U.S. by non-U.S. residents is growing. These “reproductive tourists” are more likely, compared to Americans, to use egg donors and carriers and genetically screen early embryos.

Center for Advanced Communications Policy Achieves Highest Score for RERC

The Center for Advanced Communications Policy (CACP) in Georgia Tech’s School of Public Policy released its annual report for the period July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017. Among the achievements highlighted in the report, CACP received $4.625 million in funding and achieved the highest score awarded to an RERC in the past 16 years. The School of Public Policy is a unit of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts.

Sports, Society, and Technology Program Hosts Olympic Pride, American Prejudice Screening and Panel

The Sports, Society, and Technology (SST) Program hosted a screening of Olympic Pride, American Prejudice and a post-film panel on October 2, 2017 in the Student Center Theater on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology. Co-sponsors of the event included the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, the School of History and Sociology (HSOC), and the Black Feminist Think Tank. Faculty and students in the SST program study sport in the context of historical and contemporary culture.

Faculty and Staff Mount Puerto Rico Hurricane Maria Relief Effort

The catastrophic damage resulting from Hurricane Maria has left most residents of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in dire need. In response, members of the Georgia Institute of Technology community organized a campaign to provide much needed aid to the Puerto Rico. Ivan Allen College’s Juan Carlos Rodriguez in Modern Languages and Marilu Suarez in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs are deeply involved in organizing disaster relief on campus.
