• Pearson Invited to Serve on National Academies of Science Panel

  Willie Pearson Jr., professor of sociology in the School of History and Sociology, has been invited to serve as a member of the National Academy of Sciences panel "Evaluate the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics Approach to Measuring the Science and Engineering Workforce." 

  

• Mock Trial Team Finishes in Fifth Place Overall at National Championship Tournament

  Georgia Tech’s Mock Trial Team finished in third place in its division and fifth place overall at the American Mock Trial Association's 32nd National Championship Tournament, which was held April 15-17 at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. 

  

• Diana Hicks Appointed to Australian Research Council Technical Working Group as International Industry Expert

  Diana Hicks, a professor in the Ivan Allen College School of Public Policy at Georgia Tech, has been appointed to the Australian Research Council’s (ARC) newly formed Engagement and Impact Technical Working Group.

  On April 8, the Center for International Strategy, Technology, and Policy (CISTP), in cooperation with the Center for European and Transatlantic Studies (CETS) and the Georgia Tech Energy Club hosted a panel discussion entitled “The Changing Energy Landscape in Europe and Eurasia: Emerging Threats and Opportunities.”

• Kosal Brings Sam Nunn Security Program Fellows to Washington, D.C. to Learn About National Security Challenges

  Fellows from Georgia Tech’s Sam Nunn Security Program (SNSP) spent March 20 – 24 in Washington, D.C. meeting with representatives from Congress, the Department of Defense, the National Security Council, the FBI, the State Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the intelligence community, industry, and non-governmental organizations working at the intersection of science, technology, security, and policy.

  Margaret Kosal, an associate professor in Georgia Tech’s Ivan Allen College Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, has been selected as a non-resident adjunct scholar to the Modern War Institute at West Point.

  

• Boston Named Atlanta Business League Entrepreneur of the Year

  Thomas “Danny” Boston, professor of economics and international affairs in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs has been selected as the 2016 Entrepreneur of the Year by the Atlanta Business League (ABL), the largest association of Black business owners in Metro Atlanta and the oldest in the country.

  On April 23, the Ivan Allen College Westside Communities Alliance (WCA) will convene a symposium that celebrates five years of progress and the future promise of this signature initiative, which is led by Dean Jacqueline Royster. • Public Policy Rises to 45th Overall Best Graduate School in Latest U.S. News & World Report Rankings, and #2 and #22 in Specific Disciplines

  The Ivan Allen College School of Public Policy at Georgia Tech has achieved significant movement upward in rankings announced in the latest U.S. News & World Report, moving up eight spots in rankings of Best Graduate Schools in Public Affairs to #45 overall.
