Georgia Tech Course Selected for NAE’s Book on Exemplary Engineering Ethics Programs

In Memoriam: Maxine Thompson Turner

Maxine Turner broke barriers in joining Georgia Tech as one of its first women faculty in the 1960s. She was a pioneer in seeking equity on campus for women and minority students and in the development of a technical communications program at Georgia Tech.

Leiden Manifesto Codifies Best Practices for Metrics-based Research Assessment

To support researchers and managers, five experts led by Diana Hicks, professor in the School of Public Policy at Georgia Institute of Technology, proposed ten principles for the measurement of research performance: the Leiden Manifesto for Research Metrics. Published as commentary in Nature in July 2015, the principles are being circulated around the world. A video summarizing the principles is available and it has been published in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts Leading Edge Digital Publications Series.

Ivan Allen College Applications and Enrollments Are Up

A more aggressive admissions policy for students applying to liberal arts at Georgia Tech yielded a 2 percent increase in fall 2015 freshman enrollment for the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, the first increase in five years.
