• Tone Appointed Interim Dean of Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts

  John Tone, professor in the School of History and Sociology and associate dean of undergraduate studies in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, will serve as interim dean.

  

• SST Funds Students to Attend MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference

  Morissa Chen and Ilesh Jain, two Industrial Engineering undergraduates enrolled in the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Sports, Society, and Technology (SST) minor, recently attended the influential MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference thanks to funding from Julius C. “Bud” Shaw Professor Johnny Smith.

  

• Will Jimerson Receives the Georgia Tech 2019 Excellence Award

  Will Jimerson, Human Resources manager for the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, has been awarded the Georgia Institute of Technology’s 2019 Excellence Award. Georgia Tech’s Office of Human Resources bestowed the honor upon Jimerson for his work ethic, professionalism, and collegiality.

  

• Festschrift on the Work of Bryan Norton Published

  Two professors from the University of Texas at Austin and Arizona State University in Tempe have honored his influential thought and legacy by compiling the first festschrift of Norton's work, which was recently published by Springer International.

  

• Inaugural Atlanta Global Studies Symposium Focuses on Sustainable Development

  March 27, 2019

  ATLANTA– The Atlanta Global Studies Center (AGSC), a partnership of Georgia State University and the Georgia Institute of Technology, is hosting the first annual Atlanta Global Studies Symposium, April 25-27 on the campus of Georgia Tech.

  The theme of the symposium is “The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Education, Research, and Community Engagement.”

  

• Georgia Tech Students Invited to JUMP into STEM Finals

  Two interdisciplinary teams of Georgia Tech undergraduates have been invited to compete in the JUMP into STEM final event for the chance to intern with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) or the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). 

  

• Center for the Study of Women, Science, and Technology Celebrates 20 Years at Georgia Tech

  The Center for the Study of Women, Science, and Techology and its faculty its faculty organizers have played key roles in inspiring Georgia Tech’s learning communities, the Institute’s first undergraduate student-faculty research program, the WST Distinguished Lecture, and in Georgia Tech’s participation in the National Science Foundation’s ADVANCE Institutional Transformation program.

• Undergraduates from Five Ivan Allen College Schools Intern at Georgia State Capitol

  The Ivan Allen College has a strong presence at the Georgia State Capitol again this legislative session with 10 undergraduates from the College participating in this year’s Georgia Legislative Internsip Program (GLIP), a full-time, paid internship that runs throughout the state legislative session.

  

• Karen Head Receives Georgia Tech's Class of 1934 Outstanding Service Award

  The Georgia Tech Faculty Honors Committee has awarded the Class of 1934 Outstanding Service Award to Karen Head, executive director of the Naugle Communication Center and the associate chair and associate professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication (LMC).

• Adam Stulberg Named Chair of Sam Nunn School of International Affairs

  March 14, 2019

  Dr. Adam Stulberg, senior faculty in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, has been named chair of the school. He succeeds Joseph Bankoff who steps down this spring after seven years in the role. Stulberg will begin his appointment in July 2019.
