Regents' Professor of Science Fiction Studies Lisa Yaszek provided consulting services for the 80th annual WorldCon's 1946 Project, which is designed to reframe the history of science fiction by putting diversity in science fiction (or the lack thereof) at the center of genre history. Yaszek connected WorldCon programmers with academic and artistic experts in the history of women's, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC science fiction, participated in panels such as "The Leading Ladies of 1946" and recorded informational videos on subjects ranging from pioneering female authors to the strange but true history of the deep connections between postwar science fiction fandom and the development of LGBTQ+ journalism in America.
