Brianna Anderson

Brianna Anderson (she/her) is a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She received her Ph.D. in English from the University of Florida.

Her research and teaching specializations include children’s and young adult literature, comics studies and visual rhetoric, digital humanities, ecocriticism, critical race and gender studies, and speculative fiction.

Her research program and pedagogy examine how comics and picture books use their multimodal forms to represent and inspire activism for difficult and complex issues, such as climate change and racism. She is currently working on her first monograph, Framing Green Activism: Environmental Children’s Comics. This project examines how environmental comics and zines created for and by children and teenagers can serve as powerful pedagogical texts that critique social injustices and motivate change.
