Overview
Yumi Parks joined the School of Modern Languages in Fall, 2022. She teaches Introductory and Intermediate Japanese language courses along with the LBAT courses including JAPN 3693-Japan Today: Toward a Sustainable Society and JAPN 3694-Conversation Practicum. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, she was a senior lecturer for Japanese languge and culture at Azusa Pacific University where she led the Japanese program. During her time at APU, she received the CLAS Faculty Excellence award. Besides being an educator, she has provided the technical translation and research assistance services for Toppan Inc., No. 1 printing conglomerate in the world. She has also worked at the A & R divisions of the record labels in Japan, and currently works as a freelance interpreter, translator, and journalist for the music industry. She holds a Master's degree in Education, specializes in curriculum and instructions for diverse learners. She enjoys engaging in community services. She has led several volunteer teams consisted of her students to provide various services in Ishinomaki city, Japan where the Great East Japan Earthquake hit in 2011.
