Overview
Ruthie Yow is an ethnographer and historian of educational justice movements. She researches de- and re-segregation and educational activism in metro Atlanta, where she grew up. She works with a local youth empowerment group and focuses her teaching on history, power, race, and the capacity of students to make lasting and meaningful social change. She has most recently published an essay on black student protest in the Oral History Review. She teaches ENGL 1101 and tutors in the Communication Center.
