Chair Search for Georgia Tech School of Economics

Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts convened a search committee charged to engage with applicants and recommend qualified finalists for the next Chair of the School of Economics at Georgia Tech. The Chair position is expected to begin no later than July 1, 2026. School Chair terms are a five-year administrative appointment, subject to reappointment upon a comprehensive evaluation and mutual agreement, and report to the Dean of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts.

Finalists

Three finalists have been selected in the chair search for the School of Economics. Access to candidate materials requires Georgia Tech credentials in order to maintain candidate confidentiality. Finalists will interview with faculty, staff, and students as well as present a seminar addressing their vision for the school. Candidate seminars will be open to the Georgia Tech community including students, faculty, and staff who can attend in person, participate virtually in real-time, or watch a post-event video of each candidate presentation. Georgia Tech community members who engage with the finalists are encouraged to complete a candidate survey to provide feedback to the search committee and dean.

Search Timeline

  • May 2025: Send invitations to the search committee
  • June 2025: Conduct virtual search committee kickoff meetings
  • July 2025: Announce search committee; Publish job advertisement and search website
  • July-October 2025: Ongoing recruitment activities
  • October 31, 2025: Deadline to submit application materials for optimal consideration; however, applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled
  • November-December 2025: Conduct virtual semi-finalist interviews with the search committee
  • January-February 2026: Host on-campus finalist interviews with the School, College, and Institute community
  • March 2026: Hiring decision and finalist negotiations
  • No later than July 1, 2026: Anticipated hire date
